Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Sunday 9th of December 2018, held a Christmas party at Urhokpota hall (Open space) in Benin City and simultaneously in the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) for children of teaching and non-teaching staff.
Activities to mark the event includes; branded SUBEB exercise books given to children by Santa Claus, Carol song by pupils from Emotan Primary School, Benin City, display of mascots characters (Ben 10, Spider man, Avatar, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and clown) games and dance competitions. A variety of snacks, food and drinks were readily available to all.
The event was graced by the Chairman of Egor Local Government who was on hand to celebrate Egor teachers and their children, Executive Chairman and Board Members of Edo SUBEB, Teaching and Non-teaching staff with their children and spouses.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe stated that teachers spend lots of hours minding other people’s children, in honor of their commitment to duty and the life changer that they are, SUBEB decided to celebrate their children and make the day special for them in the spirit of Yuletide. The event is among several initiatives aimed at restoring the dignity and prestige of the teaching profession. It was a day of Family, Friends, Food and Fun.
Mrs Josephine Oshodin a non-teaching staff of SUBEB said “this is the best Christmas party ever attended by her family and her children were happy meeting and taking pictures with her boss the SUBEB chairman.”
A Headteacher, Umealadi Mary Dorothy of Idumonka Primary school, Igueben stated “I took my four kids to the Christmas party organized in my LGA and we had lots of fun and gifts.”
Mrs Onaiwu Patience a teacher in Obe primary school Sabogida Ora, Owan West LGA said “thanks to Mr. Governor for availing me such opportunity to experience this awesome Christmas party.
All over the state teaching and non teaching staff of SUBEB have expressed their gratitude and pray for it’s continuity.
