Education is key to achieving peace and security in any nation.This assertion was made by the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education board, (SUBEB) Dr.Joan Osa Oviawe while delivering a lecture at the ongoing program of Armed forces Command and Staff College, course 47 who are on study tour to Edo State.
Speaking on the topic, combating insecurity through Quality Basic Education (Edo BEST initiative), Dr Oviawe noted that Gov. Godwin Obaseki is investing in basic Education to build future generations who will be skilled, values driven and responsive citizens.
With the enabling environment created in public primary schools by the state Government and it’s commitment to provide basic education in the state, children are now eager to go to school to learn thereby developing their mental ability which stimulates good behavior. The SUBEB Chairman also stated that Edo state currently has the lowest out-of-school rate in Nigeria as a result of Gov. Obaseki’s commitment to Education.
Responding, the leader of course 47 to Edo State, Col. A.O. Balogun thanked the SUBEB chairman for delivering a well researched paper, which has further broadened the horizon of course 47 participants which in turn will help them tremendously at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College to learn new approaches in combating insecurity in Nigeria.
